David P. Brown
CANDIDATE FOR TRUSTEE
Mr. Brown is Vice President of the Albany Public Library
and has served on the board since 1997. He has chaired the Board’s Nominating
Committee and served on the Executive Committee, the Rechartering Committee and
special committees related to computer use and privacy.
Mr. Brown is president of Sawchuk Brown Associates, the
Albany
area’s leading public relations/public affairs firm.
He has served in regional and national positions with the Public
Relations Society of America, the American Marketing Association and the Council
of Public Relations Firms.
Previously, Mr. Brown was
executive news editor of the
Albany
Times Union and editor of the Sunday Times Union. He had also
been a reporter at other daily newspapers in
New York
and
Virginia
. As an adjunct instructor, he has taught journalism and public relations at the
University at
Albany
and the
College
of
Saint Rose
. He has written on local history and Theodore Roosevelt for a variety of
publications.
He has served on the board of Park Playhouse, the Center
for Economic Growth, the American Red Cross’ regional chapter, the Albany-Tula
Alliance,
Albany
’s Project Pride, special committees for the 1990 and 2000 Census in
Albany
and is a past president of the Rensselaer County Historical Society.
An avid book collector, Mr. Brown resides with his wife,
Pamela Sawchuk Brown, in the
Center Square
section of
Albany
.
